An Association-directed land manager maintains the over 3 miles of hiking trails that meander through the wildflower meadows and old hardwood forests, and around the spring-fed lake. Small wooden bridges allow hikers to traverse streams — with a gurgling spring-water wishing well among the happy surprises along the way.

The conservancy is open to residents and their guests only, and there are several footpath points of entry to the conservancy along the neighborhood streets. Cygnet Lake Cygnet Lake is a favorite nature escape for Sugarcreek residents.

The sparkling clear waters of this private five-acre lake are ideal for swimming, floating or fishing off the pier or from the grassy banks. The lake has Bass, Northern Pike, Perch and Bluegills for catch and release…Those with rowboats, kayaks, canoes or paddleboards also enjoy the beauty and solitude of this hidden lake in the woods.

A limestone patio and firepit offer residents additional recreational enjoyment. The Brown Loop at the far north perimeter of the property offers a combination of woods and prairie views. A little farther south is the Green Loop which circles a densely forested area north of a neighborhood cul-de-sac.

The Blue Loop is the longest trail, leading though woods and circling the meadows and forests around Cygnet Lake, and the streams and frog pond just south of it. More paths meander through the wildflower meadows to the east. A Green Footprint The neighborhood is designed to blend in quietly with its countrified surroundings, and is mostly hidden from view from the main road of Bowers.

One enters Sugarcreek Preserve down long private roads of entry and exit, flanked by trees and farm fields. These lead back to the gracious Sugarcreek Preserve neighborhood of fine homes on one-plus acre lots — all envisioned with minimal impact to the surrounding environment.
